business on elal vs continental
« on: June 29, 2012, 09:13:33 AM »
I'm flying this winter to Israel and there still lots of availability for my dates.  I'd like to fly business class and would like to know if one airline is better than the other or if they are pretty much the same.  My choice would be elal (booking with aa) or continental.
(ewr to tlv).

Please let me know what you think.

United=lie-flat.
El Al=Not lie-flat.

If possible, take UA from EWR and El Al back from TLV. You'll get the better lounges in both as well as the better flight times (1 AM or 00:40 back)

I care more about the seat than those things.
Food I can bring on my own and service is always going to be luck of the draw, even on a premium airline like CX.

For a while I was flying exclusively UA and when I went back to El Al I realized how truly awful the UA service was. Even Delta seemed like CX compared to UA.

Oh and having a steak and hot chocolate cake makes it worthwhile, but if you are all about the seat then go with UA

King David access is very easy to get .
there is only one + on the business in EL AL , that you can meet other business people that you wanted to meet for a while ( i'm talking about my self ) but again it's not worth it because of the seat

Thanks for the feedback.  By the time I got around to choosing UA was not available. Ended up booking with AA on elal.   I may need to take an infant with me (hopefully not) and I asked to know the price of bringing and infant and was quoted $230.  Does that sound right?   I thought AA charges 10% of the full price fare... I dont want them to change that on me....

it's possible they mistakenly quoted you a coach fare, but it doesn't matter, they shouldn't give you any problems checking in.
