You mean they gave you compensation even though you were never bumped? :o

Yes. That's how AF operates, they preemptively bump you and compensate you for it. Pretty awesome!

When I checked in on Delta tonight, they asked me to bid on what I'd want to be bumped. They try to benchmark it by letting you choose between 25 and 125, or input an amount. So I input 300, bec I think that's what they gave me last time they bumped me.

But really, it depends what the other option is. Is the other option another flight getting in at the same rough time or a flight the next day.

How does it work, when do you find out if your bid was accepted?

They know to call you out at the airport, if they need you and if they did not find for cheaper bids.

Someone tight on money but wants to fly to Israel in late July 2018 and return in early August.
Possible idea; fly but try to get bumped.

1 - How likely to get bumped late July/August to/from Israel?
2 - Which airlines are more likely to bump then?

Thank you.

Bad investment strategy. Airlines try not to bump people. I would guess Elal is the best odds, owing to their poor customer service record and routine flight delays.

So you don't think it's likely to get bumped on that route at that time of year?

Wondering if some of you guys can help me out....

I was involuntarily bumped off a Scech Airline (operated by smartwings) flight from tlv to prg

they are only interested  in compensating me under European law (400 euro)
instead of the Israeli law which is  higher...

Additionally I didnt receive any accommodations/meals just another flight

So far the company has been really slow to responding to me
What can I do???

I was booked in Basic Economy LAS-JFK on AA 969 yesterday. Before boarding, the gate agent made an announcement that they were looking for 40 volunteers, giving each a $1200 voucher but they couldn't guarantee when people's next flight would be since their only other nonstop that day was also oversold. Obviously pandemonium ensued. The gate agent then said that because it was a weight restriction due to weather, normal compensation rules wouldn't apply. At some point they said 7 people without carry-on's could board so I jumped at the opportunity given the complete chaos at the gate. We left the gate only to return, again due to weight, and they got 13 more volunteers off the plane. When I was at the gate, there were 2 agents only one of whom was working on rebooking pax. Because I booked Basic Economy, I was worried I would get last priority and be stuck there for days. If I would have not boarded to begin with, would I have been eligible for the full 400% compensation for IDB? Was the agent completely full of it blaming the issue on 'weather'?
