Using a friend's targeted Amex offer
« on: July 05, 2012, 08:29:54 PM »
I recall seeing this question asked here before, but I searched and couldn't find it...

A relative of mine received a targeted Amex offer in the mail that offers either the Platinum card for 100,000 points after 3k spend, or the gold card for 50,000 points after 1k spend.

When following the link online, it does allow me to place my own name, DOB and SS, but there is no Address field at all.

Will this work for me? Anyone have experience with this?

It works. I did it and got the points a few months ago. But, take a screenshot of the offer page and save it for reference.

Thanks, but there is no place to put in my address, so where will they send the card to? The address of the targetee? (just made up that word)

Continue on to the next page, it should have an address spot which will default to your friends info but you can change it there.

Doesn't have a place to enter address at all.

to my best knowledge, it doesnt work. I had tried to change my wife name to me, with the same address. I could not do it. I had called them to get it changed with offer code, they still could not do it. so if anyone has changed things successfully with target offer link or mail, I will like to learn which bank, which offer and how.

Double check, but if it's personal or if it's already been used you won't be able to do it.

Biz - if it was addressed to the person's name - won't work. Addressed to biz name will work.

Also do I change the biz name or keep the same name?

Yup. I put in the RSVP code and zip and it put his info in automatically. I manually changed it all and then submitted.
