best deal for Amex points -> hotel in Hawaii?

flights are relatively cheap from LAX ($300), what's the best use of amex points to get a nice hotel room in Hawaii near chabad. looking at Honolulu right now.

Any advice recommended as I have never been to Hawaii.  (Married couple with 5 year old girl)

Also possibly last minute, as of right now the fires seem to have subsided. We were looking to hop on a flight today to get out of the city. BH it quieted down so now we are looking to leave Thursday 1/16.

If the fires flare up again we will look to leave within 24 hours.
