Wow, forget booking a year in advance, having to not be there for Shabbos makes this trip quite crazy.

Shabbas in LAX sounds perfectly fine to me.

Or "channel Chabad" and go for a week :P

-1 Thursday night is already in the "potentially Shabbos" time.

That depends on who your Rav is

True. For me, in the winter, the trip could only be Sunday night flight from LAX, get to BOB around noon on Monday and leave BOB Wednesday around 5PM. 2 nights, 1.5-2 days. In the summer, there's a Motzai Shabbos LAX-PPT flight, so I could get in another day/night in BOB.

A final option from my research is to catch the Wednesday morning flight PPT-AKL and go from AKL-Australia before Shabbos. Would mean even less time in BOB though...

You'd have the same issue with Shabbas. PPT-AKL leaving weds morn, arrives in AKL on Thursday afternoon about 1 PM. The next flight out AKL-MEL/SYD is not until Friday morning at 8ish am.

Not to mention that to get to PPT for an 8am flight would require you leave BOB Tuesday afternoon.

Why can't you take a MS flight in the winter? Or keep "2 days" of shabbas?

Aha, but once you cross the dateline, Friday is no longer "possibly Shabbos", rather Sunday is. Which means, you can stay in AKL until shkia and I could catch a Friday morning flight to Australia.

Looks like TN only flies at 4:20PM (and not 11 something PM) on Saturdays in the winter.

Amended my post above.

But you're right about TN on MS in winter. Was looking at another day.

1. its not easy, and it requires knowing what is asur med'oraysa and what is asur medarabanan. or you could be machmir, but 2 days of shabbos is no fun
2. some may view it better to avoid the safek situation altogether

I hear, but relaxing in an OWB in BOB for two days instead of one doesn't sound like much of a sacrifice :P

Good point, forgot about having to catch a Tuesday flight to PPT. Yeah so AKL connection is out.

Yep, my Rabbi said no to 2 days.

I hear, but relaxing in an OWB in BOB for two days instead of one doesn't sound like much of a sacrifice :P
Lol if only it was that simple. I was told to avoid 2 days for reasons such as what do you do about Tefillin on the non-Shabbos day? Etc. I also personally wouldn't feel comfortable not going to Shul on Shabbos.

Anyway, a 2 night, 1.5-2 day trip isn't completely crazy, right? Some people here have flown for 2 days straight without getting out of an airport.  :P

Frankly, there's no way I'd do a 1.5/2 day trip to BOB. No way, no how.

I'd MUCH sooner do MLE for 6 days.

But @Yehuda would never lay out cash, so that means no OWB

Then, my friend, it appears both MLE and BOB are a bit beyond his grasp at the moment... unless of course he wants to travel 20 hours each way for 1.5/2 days.

Or start doing some serious MS on the Arrival card... but even that takes money.

There are ways to MS for free...
I've never really looked into MLE. I would have to do my research to see what routes get you there and if I have those miles.

it is
Thanks :)

So BOB>MLE?

TR is halfway done. You'll just have to wait and see. I imagine I should have the first post up in the next few days.
