Restaurants & Eateries
  • As of the most recent posts no kosher restaurants operate on Bora Bora itself. Visitors generally bring sealed meals, order airline-style meals through their hotel, or eat packaged food. Plan ahead!

Groceries / Supermarkets / Meat Stores
  • Supermarché Chin Lee (Papeete, Tahiti) – Large French supermarket that stocks basic kosher non-perishables (check hechsher). Good stop if you connect in PPT before flying to BOB.
  • Super U – Chain in Papeete with a small imported-kosher section (mainly Israeli/European canned goods).

Shuls & Minyanim
  • Synagogue de Tahiti – Beth Yeshoua – 1 Rue du Docteur Cassiau, Papeete. Orthodox Sephardi kehillah (~300 members). Minyan Friday night & Shabbat morning; bring passport to register. No regular meals provided, but they welcome visitors and may assist with kosher supplies.

Hotels & Lodging
  • St. Regis Bora Bora Resort – Ultra-luxury, huge over-water villas (some with plunge pools). Marriott Bonvoy Category 8; expect 80-120 k pts + per night. “Couples Retreat” filmed here; reviewers rave about service and lagoon views.
  • Le Méridien Bora Bora – Classic SPG/Marriott property set to become Hilton in 2025. Standard OWB runs 12-15 ft above a turtle-filled lagoon. Good cash+points value when available (historically 30 k pts + ≈$275).
  • Conrad Bora Bora Nui – Former Hilton Bora Bora Nui. All-suite resort on private motu with hillside & OWB options. Hilton Honors standard 120 k pts; occasional premium-room sales.
  • InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa – IHG Luxury Collection; every villa is over water. Excellent for IHG Free-Night Certificates + points top-up.
  • InterContinental Le Moana – Smaller, laid-back sister property on Matira Point; good value on points and closer to local stores/beach.
  • Moorea & Tahiti Stopovers – Many travellers spend Shabbat in Papeete or hop the 30-min ferry to Moorea (Hilton Moorea, Sofitel). Cheaper OWBs and easier access to shul/kosher supplies.

Things To Do / Attractions
  • Snorkel or dive with reef sharks, rays & coral gardens in Bora Bora lagoon.
  • Private lagoon-catamaran tour, picnic on a motu & sunset cruise.
  • 4×4 Jeep safari up to WWII guns & viewpoints of Mt. Otemanu.
  • Parasailing, jetski circuit around the island, kite-surfing on Matira Beach.
  • Deep-sea fishing (tuna, mahi-mahi) – resorts can cook your catch sealed/kosher style on request.
  • Spa day at IC Thalasso (seawater hydrotherapy) or St Regis Iridium Spa.
  • Day-trip to Moorea for hiking Magic Mountain & swim with dolphins.

I bought two tickets for 75k miles each from JFK to PPT.
I am staying at the la meridian with starwood points.
On what airline? In what class?
How much were tickets from PPT-BOB?
How many Starwood points was the hotel?
How much more would the S. Regis have been?

We want details :D

Me thinks AA/TN in coach.

Hope I'm wrong, but from my experience, using SPG points in BOB is never a great value...

That's my assumption as well.  Probably can sell the points and pay for the S. Regis and still have change.

Yup. SPG50, SPG355N and similar often give good deals.

On the other hand, some people don't sell their points so if you have enough of them, why not.

And while youre going to BOB, it may be well worth looking at other hotels besides the chains.

Though many have a hard time wrapping their head around spending $800-$1000+/night.

Details? Which miles? Which metal? Routing? Class(es)? etc.

I used 75k miles AA from JFK to PPT, this is in coach. I booked two tickets for me and my wife.
I used the SPG50 to book an OTW bungalow at the La Meridan, luckily the prices were very decent.

Very exciting!

How much was the SPG50 rate? How much more was the rate at the S. Regis?
Was the SPG50 cheaper than the SPG AMEX 5 for 4 rate with $100 resort credit?

Yes the SPG50 was way cheaper then any other offer around.
The only big expense was the flight from ppt to bob which was $400 each. There is no way around that :(

I believe that as a Gold you can choose free internet as an amenity. This is a benefit that began this past March. See here: http://www.starwoodhotels.com/preferredguest/account/member_benefits/gold_preferred.html

Have a Plat book the rate and add you as a guest and then you'll get free internet, suite upgrades, and more.  PM me if you want.

I already booked it. Will it still matter?

Interesting question...would have to research how checkin there works.

Wouldn't be able to pull it off in MLE. I'd bet its almost impossible in BOB as well (and definitely impossible if there are island transfers like in MLE).

In the past, I've checked in others on my Plat account and explicitly called the hotel in advance to let them know that I was adding a name of another guest for whom I was booking the room. In all the cases, they had no issue with this. in one case, the rep thought it was very gracious of me to be treating out a friend/colleague in the way.
