Restaurants & Eateries
  • As of the most recent posts no kosher restaurants operate on Bora Bora itself. Visitors generally bring sealed meals, order airline-style meals through their hotel, or eat packaged food. Plan ahead!

Groceries / Supermarkets / Meat Stores
  • Supermarché Chin Lee (Papeete, Tahiti) – Large French supermarket that stocks basic kosher non-perishables (check hechsher). Good stop if you connect in PPT before flying to BOB.
  • Super U – Chain in Papeete with a small imported-kosher section (mainly Israeli/European canned goods).

Shuls & Minyanim
  • Synagogue de Tahiti – Beth Yeshoua – 1 Rue du Docteur Cassiau, Papeete. Orthodox Sephardi kehillah (~300 members). Minyan Friday night & Shabbat morning; bring passport to register. No regular meals provided, but they welcome visitors and may assist with kosher supplies.

Hotels & Lodging
  • St. Regis Bora Bora Resort – Ultra-luxury, huge over-water villas (some with plunge pools). Marriott Bonvoy Category 8; expect 80-120 k pts + per night. “Couples Retreat” filmed here; reviewers rave about service and lagoon views.
  • Le Méridien Bora Bora – Classic SPG/Marriott property set to become Hilton in 2025. Standard OWB runs 12-15 ft above a turtle-filled lagoon. Good cash+points value when available (historically 30 k pts + ≈$275).
  • Conrad Bora Bora Nui – Former Hilton Bora Bora Nui. All-suite resort on private motu with hillside & OWB options. Hilton Honors standard 120 k pts; occasional premium-room sales.
  • InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa – IHG Luxury Collection; every villa is over water. Excellent for IHG Free-Night Certificates + points top-up.
  • InterContinental Le Moana – Smaller, laid-back sister property on Matira Point; good value on points and closer to local stores/beach.
  • Moorea & Tahiti Stopovers – Many travellers spend Shabbat in Papeete or hop the 30-min ferry to Moorea (Hilton Moorea, Sofitel). Cheaper OWBs and easier access to shul/kosher supplies.

Things To Do / Attractions
  • Snorkel or dive with reef sharks, rays & coral gardens in Bora Bora lagoon.
  • Private lagoon-catamaran tour, picnic on a motu & sunset cruise.
  • 4×4 Jeep safari up to WWII guns & viewpoints of Mt. Otemanu.
  • Parasailing, jetski circuit around the island, kite-surfing on Matira Beach.
  • Deep-sea fishing (tuna, mahi-mahi) – resorts can cook your catch sealed/kosher style on request.
  • Spa day at IC Thalasso (seawater hydrotherapy) or St Regis Iridium Spa.
  • Day-trip to Moorea for hiking Magic Mountain & swim with dolphins.

Tahiti/Moorea - Kosher Food, Shul, etc? What do they allow you to bring in?
« Reply #160 on: February 22, 2013, 01:26:01 PM »
Thinking about Moorea and Tahiti next Winter, but I can't find any recent information online about Kosher food, Shuls, bringing food into the country, etc. I see there is/was a shul in Tahiti, but I can't find any website for it. Anyone have any recent info that can help, or has anyone gone there recently and can share their experience. Thanks.

There's a shul, which has a minyan on Shabbos, and even meshulachim from E"Y

Do they provide kosher food or meals on Shabbos? Also, does anyone know if there are issues bringing kosher food into Tahiti?

I was in the Shul there. I only found out after Shabbos, so was there for a minyan maariv.
They do not offer food there or anything, but they were really warm and even drove me to the airport.
They told me that one of the people there are planning on opening a Kosher hotel, I am not sure if his plans are coming through.

You were on Tahiti for shabbos and didn't even know about the shul?
Why?

Yes, did not do enough research.
As well, I wanted to stay at the meridian which has over water bungalows in Tahiti and that is a very far walk from the Shul.

But why Tahiti over Moorea or Bora Bora?

But why Tahiti over Moorea or Bora Bora?

I landed Friday morning, wanted to stay Shabbos really close by. Looking back maybe I should have gone to Moorea, but I had a really nice time in Thaiti.

I have 2 (extremely hard to find) TN J award tickets LAX-PPT that it seems I'm probably going to release unfortunately :'(

Dates are 06/09-06/17. Both flights are red-eyes.  I'm guessing the seats will go back to award inventory when cancelled and it's 125K AA per seat.

I also have the Hilton BOB booked 06/10-06/17 for 7 nights at 37.5K per night (currently 95K).

Want to go on the trip of a lifetime? Hit me up to work out the details.

I wish I could go then. I was actually curious about Dan. Because Bora is my next vacation whenever I have the time for it. What is the best way getting tickets from LA. Is American miles the only way to go? I heard that you can use Delta also?

This is becoming very hard to find a friend with 125K AA. Oh the hardships of being single, if I had a +1 I'd just blow 250K :))

Any ddf'ers want to split this?

125k AA is the easy part.

Timing/schedule is where it gets tuff.
