amex wont match they do give courtesy points

Don’t message, online representatives do not have the ability to award courtesy points.
Call and say you’re disappointed that a new higher bonus became available so recently after you applied.
The first representative will probably offer you 3,000 points. Ask politely to be escalated to a manager and repeat your disappointment in American Express due to the bonus change.
The manager has the ability to award the 10,000 point difference, they won’t always offer it but they should offer at least 5,000 points. Remember to stay polite but push for the 10,000 point difference.

Thanks for your help! Follow up question though: should I wait until I complete the spend or call right now with the spend not yet met?

I got "no number need more info" msg when I applied, checked app status online and now says approved but didn't get any email.
Is this unusual and can I assume that I'm approved?

You can get them rushed with Amex.

I really want this card in this offer.

I rolled the dice and applied without closing a card prior to application. I received a call today stating that I was approved if I closed one of my revolvers. I chose to close the Simply Cash. I have Diamond status with Hilton and many upcoming stays, and more reservations with Hilton to book.

The Simply Cash was intended for regular business spend as advertising is one of my highest actual expenses. However, many of the companies with whom I advertise do not code as advertisement so I wasn't getting the benefit of card that I had intended.

The SPG was approved and is being overnighted.
