I just called and tried for 10,000, but got 3,000. Not bad for 2 minutes on the phone.

Thanks, I'll call again tomorrow to see if I can get them to throw me another few thousand. Still haven't called for DW at all yet.

Same thing as everyone else here. Signed up with a lower offer and want to be matched.

Interesting that they would give extra points for cards opened a couple of years ago and the signup bonus was lower then.

Great news, potentially -- this would be much better than joining Marriott! It would keep SPG intact and independent. And it would possibly prevent them Marriott consolidating and closing some overlapping hotel locations.

I agree. This could also potentially save spg from devaluation and possibly cutting ties with amex down the line

yes, we're approx 5 yrs from lifetime platinum (hard work), so we're hoping to reach that goal without other brands' interference, if possible. Perhaps they'll even add a few more hotels and/or expand.

CSR told my friend that the temporary card received online following approval can only be used at starwood's website.  Is this correct?

I just got approved for the business spg card and I'm not able to activate the card until they get the ein or tax I'd number. I don't have one as it's not a registered business.
Can I give any number or it needs to be legit as they will go and in to some records to see if this is valid?
