The 24 month language on SPG card (from a few years ago) is from when you close the account or from when you received the bonus?

Amex was from when you closed the card, but what difference does it make now ?

if i got gold status because i had a platinum card but now i cancelled the platinum card how long does it take until they take away the gold status? after a month it still says on my spg account gold status....

Signed up for this card when it was restructured program with the $95 fee in August last year. Just got annual fee, and it seems mine is still at $65.

i was told by front desk in sheraton boston when i checked in and asked for an upgrade that the next day they would be able to upgrade my room so i asked the next day and then they said they cant change it bla bla bla, so when i checked out i complained and they gave me 3,500 spg points. not bad, huh?
also how much do they give as a gold gift when you check in? 500 or 250?

250 Starpoints at participating Sheraton, Westin, W Hotels, Luxury Collection, St. Regis & Tribute Portfolio properties or 125 Starpoints at participating Four Points, Aloft & Element properties

Also, you can get another 500 points for Green Choice
