Gotta think "out of the box" :)
I have my methods. That's how I average probably 2-4k per month with most of my personal spending done in other manners. My business doesn't have much expenditures as I sell a service, not a product.

not co-branded ones yet but might soon so apply asap.
I think you misunderstood my question. Let me clarify. If I had 4 new personal credit cards in the past 24 months and now I get the SPG business card, will Chase look at it as a 5th card and reject my next SP application? Or is business separated from pleasure?

What kind of product change can be done to the SPG card? Has anyone had success recently doing it?

I was told currently (as of last weekend), none - up to a few months back, you could downgrade to the Hilton no fee card (& they also mentioned the Delta cards). But now, they told me that they couldn't do those. The AMEX currency cards are a different product line. YMMV as always and with enough HUCAs, who knows....
Grateful.

I've always been told that but I was told (by a certain well known DDF'er who's no longer around) that it can be done. Anybody knows how?

Downgrades are doable, it's just a question of finding the right rep. I was told many times it couldn't be done before I found someone to do it.

What did you downgrade it to?
And would a thing like this be better phone than chat?

Depends on how long you've had it and your history with amex, but usually not.
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

Good info, thanks. Have had my extra SPGs for quite a while, will give downgrading another few shots.
Grateful.

Quick question.

I applied for my wife for the SPG personal and biz cards. I forgot to do the spending and she never earned the signup bonus. Now, I see Amex has the SPG card for 35K bonus for both personal and biz cards. I want to cancel the 2 cards, sign up for the new offer and earn the bonus. is this the right way to do, or anybody has another strategy? Should i cann them to say what my plan is maybe they will honor it? Right now I do legitimate 5-10K spending a month on the card, so spending is no issue.

TYIA.

If you've had the card before, whether or not you've received the bonus, you're ineligible to receive the signup bonus when getting the card a second time. If you cancel and sign up, you'll receive nothing. Call them up and ask them nicely to give you 35k.

I called up and asked nicely and was able to get them to give me the offer again even though I got the sign up bonus about 2 years ago

Awesome. So much for the once in a lifetime bonus. Did you apply by phone or online? If online, did it go to pending or immediately approved? How many Amex cards do you currently have? Is this too many questions?

I asked them for an exception for being "a loyal customer since 2002" before I applied over the phone.

At first the app went to pending bc I applied for plat biz card same day so it was an automatic systematic verification for fraud.

Before my apps I had a blue personal, spg personal, plat personal, gold biz card.  Now have 3 more on the way  (biz plat, personal hilton, and spg biz).

So basically you have no way of knowing if you will actually get the bonus. What they told you over the phone when you applied is meaningless if it's different then the T&C. Unless I'm missing something?

I had a SPG Business a few years ago that I had to close due to FR. Didn't bother applying now as figured it would be impossible to get bonus. If this works please let us know. Would be great data point.
