Probably posts as points.com purchase so I'm guessing not.
even if it posts as spg you would only get 2 ppd. The only time you get 5 ppd is if you are a platinum and get 3 ppd on hotel stays plus the 2 ppd for spg spending on an spg card.

You can do that with a cash and points stay.

no you do not earn points in c & p from spg (you will get the 2ppd by using your spg card) only Hyatt lets you earn points on c & p

I don't think you lose Spg gold when you cancel your platinum.

I cancelled plat a  couple months ago not realizing that I needed to renew my gold status for this year and only recently did I notice that Im not a gold member.

If you became a gold SPG member based on 10 stays per year, then the SPG status should remain through 2/2017.

i believe starwood gold is complimentary with an spg business card as well.
question, how much after a purchase do the spg points post? and if i return an item once my points were transferred out, how do they deduct the points from the return?

I am having a lot of trouble convincing AMEX to waive my AF for my Starwood card. I have been doing this through secure chat. I have tried with 6 or 7 representatives. Does this type of thing need to be done over the phone, or have they cracked down on this and are not waiving the fee? Also, if I cannot get the fee waived can I just cancel the card and keep the Starwood points.

Thanks :-)

Can starwood be downgraded, and to what?
