I hope this is the forum for this question as it pertains to the amex starwood card. Is it true you get 2 to 1 when exchanging from spg points into united miles points? The other airlines usually give 1 to 1, i think and sometimes you can get a 25% bonus? I am trying like everyone else to maximize my remaining spg points before august.
Also, Dan has recommended transferring into United points when using Marriott flights and nights program. Anyone know why this airline program is best ?

Starwood has always had a transfer deficiency with United 2:1. But. After August you will be (in theory) able to transfer the new points to United at 1:1 {or 3:1 as the case may be} and still get the 25% bonus for 20k transfers {or 60k transfers as the case may be}...as well as transfer to most of the existing Starwood airline transfer partners, so there is no need to dump them before August 1st if you intend to do an airline transfer... in fact it may be better to wait if that transfer will be to United.

From the offer for adding 4 AUs that most people only got for 1?

Did they have a targeted offer for adding AUs and get bonus points or it's autonatizlly for everyone? I didn't see anything mentioned about it.

I opened consumer & biz just in April. I added AUs on both of them. Should I be receiving bonus points for that?

Another question:
To meet my threshold, can I book an free-cancellation hotel on Expedia for November and then cancel it in October? Will it be okay, or will they pull back the signup bonus?

SPG Marriott merge
« Reply #3486 on: May 16, 2018, 09:06:55 PM »
SPG allows spouses to move points from one account to the other. To the best of my knowledge, Marriott doesn’t. Would it make sense, before August 1, to move Marriott points to SPG, and combine them all into 1 SPG account which will then be merged into one Marriott account in August?
Thanks

Hard coded IINM. Although for a booking you can use from 2 accounts, and take advantage of that

Signed up for the personal SPG (already had it but cancelled a few years ago), did the spend and got regular points but not the bonus (yet). Does it take longer for bonus to post or does this mean I will not get it?

Probably won't get it if you've had the card within the last 7 years or so. IME the spg bonuses have been posting pretty fast.

Any point in asking for it?

You can try, but I highly doubt it will bear any fruit.

not sure if this is right thread but just got retention bonus for spg spend $500/one month, get 7,000 spg points. thought that was better than spend 2k in three months for $75. if there is a better thread to post this in, please advise

Tried multiple times with no luck, so cancelled business spg and got full refund of AF. Now debating whether to wait 1 more month (AF is prorated so would cost $8) for consumer spg and see if can get any retention bonus. Thoughts ????

Was billed on 4/24 making 5/24 the last day for a full refund.

Heard the same from multiple reps ---- consumer AF is prorated while business AF is not.

Does the $30,000 needed to spend for gold status need to be on the Same starwood card or is combined between all the starwood cards you have?
