Does the $30,000 needed to spend for gold status need to be on the Same starwood card or is combined between all the starwood cards you have?
Usually same card

Each card is looked at as it own account.

My fee posted in July but is payable in Aug. I called Amex to see if I would get the free night this year, they said yes, since it goes by statement date (which is past Aug 1). I asked for proof, they transferred me to Starwood who said they have no idea, and Amex doesn't really know what's going on. (He was pretty honest that the merger is being handled badly on the backend and nobody understands anything yet).

Do I trust Amex? If I don't get the night by 2 weeks, do you think I can get them to waive the fee?

SORRY TO SAY-- you will not get the free night this year  and as far I know Amx "never" waves the fee-- maybe they will give you spending challenge -spend $500 -get 3000 miles etc

The question is whether I can leverage what the rep told me to get the fee waived. What's there AF refund policy?

Tried, they said since it's a new feature, they can't provide proof. Maybe I will HUCA.

My AF arrived on July 27th! Any updates how to deal with it? I was sure it was August 3rd.
