So is it now worth it to transfer Amex points/UR over instead of putting spend on spg? which one?
Whats best way to accumulate marriot points (to utilize transfer partners)?
What’s the ratio of points?

AF coming up. What do you recommend I do? Downgrade? Keep it open?

Due to the earning rate, it's not worth spending on this card. Put your spend on cards that will earn at a higher rate. Without factoring in the 25% transfer bonus, you are effectively earning 2/3 of an airline mile for every dollar you spend. The FU will be almost double that. As far as the AF I'd keep the card for the free night.

Just curious why I see everyone pushing the FU over the BPP for the average end user, when the BPP earns 2ppp and can also transfer to partners, as opposed to the FU which earns 1.5 and cannot transfer to partners on its own. Also, I do find that MR has better transfer partners now, especially with LM (at least for my use cases).

How does one accumulate Marriott points then?  Are they not worth anything anymore?

For many that may be the case, but typically if someone is asking the question, they are less advanced, and UR is typically a better fit for people newer to the game. Also, MR has a lower value when redeeming as cash, and have a laugh worthy value for hotels.

You can spend on those cards, you just may not be getting the best value.

Also, getting a business card is a step more advanced.

My personal SPG CC annual fee posted May 13 2018. Should I have qualified the annual free night?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

I'm not sure if this is the right thread for this but couldn't find where else to post this so here goes.

I've been a longtime Amex customer and I've spent a ton on my SPG card in the last few years.
I have never had any late payments or interest charges on my account in the past but this past year I had 2 cases where they waived the charges for me as a courtesy due to the circumstances.
This past month I made a payment from a new bank account and the payment was returned to me since I entered the wrong routing number, but I was only notified about the returned payment a few days later after my due date and sure enough, I got a $600 interest charge on my account.
I immediately made another payment with the correct info and it went through properly.
I called them right away and I was told by a few reps and managers that they are unable to waive that interest charge for me since I have had 2 charges waived in the past year already even though I technically paid my bill on time which they can see from my account history.
I even threatened to close my accounts and post this to social media but to no avail.

Does anyone have any ideas what I can do at this point to get rid of this charge?
Please help me!

TIA!

Managers can override that system that is declining the credit. Be prepared to fight though.
