only u can answer if u think u may get shut down , if u think so --i would back off pushing and not risk  a shut down --somehow i think if a shut down was in the works , u would now by now plus i personally doubt that by pushing it will cause one

ref -"Do you think I should send the SM to different departments? " after each negative if can change i would -- but when u request a supervisor sm on top of a refusal

it would help if had a screen - try to google or flyer talk -- but i think if get right person you will not need

good luck and lets us know results

Just in case you get a denial -- go back and ask for some good will since you did the spend, love the card bla bla bla

I have some good news.

I had a SPG card that I cancelled Nov 2011. Last September before the deadline I applied and was hoping to get the bonus 30k. After calling in to demand the bonus points they made an investigation and verified that it was less than 12 months(10 months) that I cancelled before applying. I HUCA many times later but to no avail, besides for some measly 2.5k goodwill points.

Just now, as I was speaking to a CSR, I was notified that there is absolutely nothing I could do to reverse the decision of some unknown, mysterious, and unreachable department. I didn't give up(especially since I was only approx. 6 weeks short of the 12 months) and asked
for a supervisor.

The supervisor ended up giving me 20k as goodwill/courtesy! Boruch Hashem! 22.5k total! While I'm short 7.5k, the credit inquiry is now worth it!

Lesson: Have Bitachon, HUCA, and give a nice presentation to the supervisor.

Next plan of action: Asking for goodwill points for high spending  ;D

I have no idea why. That's why I am asking DDF as I thought some of you might have had a similar experience...

Thanks!

JMT
Did you have the SPG card within the past year?

Nice -- biggest non-stay related goodwill-retention I've seen IIRC.

I put in a transfer request of points to Avios. Its been 2 weeks and I still dont see the miles in my Avios account. I know someone who put in a transfer the same day with a different credit card ompany and the miles were in his Avios account the very next day. Are SPG mile transfers generally very slow? does it help to call them?

SPG transfers are usually very slow.
You can try and call, but I don't think it will help.

Hiya folks,
Think I am a bit confused, Just got 2k points for keeping my SPG open and paying the $65. Can/Should I apply for another SPG card for the 25k points? should i wait until the 2k points post and close then reapply. Tried to find this out on other threads with no luck. If anyone has a link that would be great don't mind reading or if you have a quick answer that would be appreciated as always.
Thanks
S

You can try, but don't forget the 12 month rule which they've been cracking down on recently.

I don't think that you will get the bonus a second time. Amex began enforcing their T&Cs and if you have/had the card open within a year of new application you will NOT get bonus. Some have slipped through but its looking bad for many...
