Could you share with us what you were doing that may have triggered that FR?
I'd like to learn from a wise person and ain chochom k'baal nisayon.

Absolutely!and thanks for asking. Of course, we don't ever know FOR SURE EXACTLY what triggers is. However, as regretful as I am I'll admit, I can think of three possibilities:
1)I did a 1k AP against my biz SPG card. Its a hard pill to swallow, but I suppose that could have done it.
2)Another possibility is not paying up a balance on my biz Gold card by the "please pay by" date. The reason for this is because AMEX told me many times that its a bogus date and the real due date on their charge cards are the end of the billing cycle. BUT... maybe that contributed to it too.
3)I racked up a balance of 4.500 on my biz spg card which has a limit of 5k. I didnt miss any payments or anything BUT... then again its a possibility.

SO... Now you know the rest of the story...

I would say the above combined may have done it, but not the AP on its own.

Can someone please help me with the following:

1. If I request a higher credit limit, does that translate into a hard pull on my account?

2. I have 8k limit on a 738 credit score. Does it pay to ask for a higher limit?

TIA

Usually although sometimes you may qualify for a CLI without one.
Why don't you apply for another card?

I dont really need a lot of credit now, I just want to build my credit score. Will that help to have more cards, or one card with a high limit?

In the long run more card will be very beneficial as amount of credit lines; more is higher score, and avg age of credit will be better in future. Plus with good credit you should be able to get a higher line on a new card than with a credit increase (this last part is opinion).

If you don't want the miles/money from sign up bonus then I'm sure someone else would take it off your hands...

OK Thanks!!

I am waiting for a good sign up bonus for INK cards. Or do the offers stay relatively the same? (I am only familiar with amex cards).

They just had an increased offer recently, so you might have to wait a while.

Not worth waiting as there isn't a 12 month timer like with AMEX.
I remember when a coke was a nickel, and you could buy VRs in OD.

Is there a danger of applying for multiple SPG and then downgrading to avoid annual fee?

What do you mean by multiple? How do you plan on circumventing the 12-month rule?

Applied for person 2 days ago. Instant approval, will apply for business in 4 days.
However, they closed out my only Hilton Honors card without asking me anything.  :o Why? I noticed this after I logged into my account, and I had just voluntarily closed my other HH surpass and Delta card 2 months ago (bad app to fee timing).

Sometimes they close an account if it hasn't been used in a while.

i had the same thing.
i signed on to amex and saw that they closed my blue cash card. It's my oldest card so I want to keep it. I called up and it turns out that when they approved my spg card they moved the credit line from blue cash to spg without asking me. they moved it back when i called and re-opened the blue cash card without a credit pull.
call up and see if that is what happened to you.
