I signed up for the Starwood in dec 11 and paid the annual fee the second year. This is my oldest card that I opened (although that my credit report said that my history is 9 yrs). Does it pay to close it down to get another bonus? Is it possible to get the bonus again without closing it down?

Ask to downgrade it to a no AF card.

the terms now read: "If you are identified as a current American Express® Cardmember, you may not be eligible for this welcome bonus offer."
does that mean that the technically can deny the points to anyone?

although my first statement hasn't closed yet  I met the 5K spend requirement 2 weeks ago and still no points posted to my account . Is it likely that I am not eligible or do they normally post after the statement closes??

That. (Though it is also likely you are not eligible as i am not privy to your past CC history...)

I think it's based on application date not approval date

i signed on to amex and saw that they closed my blue cash card. It's my oldest card so I want to keep it.
FYI: The old Blue Cash cards are 5% on G/G/D after 6.5k spend.
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

Amex won't allow more than 4 credit (not charge) cards at one time.

Not yet.  When you call reconsideration, offer to close a card and move the credit line over to the new card.

(Pick which card you want to close in advance and be specific with reconsideration.)

Amex sometimes does it on their own. Never heard of this working by recon.
