Hey everyone, I couldn't find much info on this so I figured that I should post in here.

What's the deal with adding multiple AU's to get Gold or Plat Starwoods status and how do you do this without getting a FR or any other negative credit outcomes?

Thanks!

help with closing amex spg card
« Reply #761 on: September 10, 2013, 10:54:19 AM »
Hi I am new to DD so thanx for you're help in advance I currently have two amex SPG cards one of them is under financial review and while I have no intention of sending them any financials in result they will probably close the card. I do not have a lot of mileage on this card (I have a significant amount on the other) I would like to liquidate them before they close the account. What would be my best option? Sell them? (Getting only 1.3 because its little mileage) transfer them? Would love some feed back, thanx

SPG points are not controlled by Amex once the statement closes . Anything that's already in your SPG account is safe.

When it says I'm only allowed to a certain numbers of AUs on my card, is that real or can I get around that? Also will they allow me more AUs for a fee, if yes how many?

did you guys know that if you already have an amex starwood card and you open a new one for the 30,000 point promotion you will not get the promotional points; only the points for spending on the card?

Is this true even if i opened a new SPG account and then applied for the card with my new SPG number?

@nytrader:
I would not close the card.
Even though you probably won't get the 10k points for spending $1, you might still get the 20k points for spending $5k.
Love me or hate me. I still love you.

I spoke to amex and they told me that I will not get any points except what I spend on the card. I had $4,500 of charges reversed and charged on my new business amex to meet the threshold

Did you spend $5K and wait a month?

Speaking to them seems to be the way to ensure that you don't get the points.
I remember when a coke was a nickel, and you could buy VRs in OD.
