Does it pay to transfer 25k starwood to lufthansa and get bonus 5k points?
Depends on what you are doing with miles

How will they be valuing the Spg? As lh or spg?

I'm looking into applying for either the starwood card or premier rewards gold. I don't really make enough points in a year to afford flights and hotels from them, so I mainly use my points for flights.I mostly use my freedom/ sapphire and am thinking that perhaps for ne t he premier rewards gold card might make more sense because I can earn points much faster through their 2× points in supermarkets, even though for everthing else starwood is better, but for most other things I use freedom or sapphire. Can soneone help guide me to the right decision?

Dan seems to think that SPG points are worth more than AMEX MR points.

I agree but I'm wondering if their main value is for hotels or even for flights they're more valuable? Also, even if they're more valuable for flights as well, are they enough that it justifies me getting half the amount I would get in Membership rewards?

Good question. They have more transfer partners to airlines than MR. CMIIW

If you get a 50K sign up as opposed to a 25K SPG sign up I would go with the 50K MR.

otherwise you would go for the spg you're saying. Can you explain why you consider 35k spg points worth more than 45k MR points besides for hotel benefits?

true but if he transfers his 25K spg to flights, it could be worth 30K for certain airlines...
Plus, 25K goes a long way for a bunch of half-decent 4K (4Points, Sheratons) hotel rooms.... 7-8 nights if he does some APay, etc...

if you always want an SPG and are married, you can stagger SPG reg and biz between you and your wife so you have 4 cards to play with
