Is it worth it to spend $200 to get gold status?

it seems that I can combine 2 offers into one. I can stay 2 nights in order to have it be considered 10 and also apply for the gold/platinum challenge and once I get the 10 nights I would have gold status.

There's easier ways then spending $200 to get SPG Gold status, namely calling up and asking nicely.

Call SPG and ask nicely if it doesn't work, HUCA!

What is the best way to avoid A/F on this card? I just opened it -- in 1 year when the fee posts is it best to cancel and re-open (churning is over  :-[ )? Ask them nicely to waive (do they even do that)?

They may offer a statement credit or a couple of K retention points.

I was doing a 3BM containing an SPG a couple weeks ago. The app kept erroring out, so I submitted it multiple times. Well, apparently it wasn't really erroring, because I received 3 new SPG cards (in addition to the 2 I already have open).

My question is, all 3 were submitted with the same SPG#. Is there a point in doing the spend on them?

Do $1 on each and see which ones you get the initial 10K on and take it from there.

Why is the SPG bonus considered good? It gets you basically 4X at all categories up to 5K that's nothing. Ink does better at OSS.

Correct. I was just breaking it down, you get 10K after $1 and then a bonus 15K after 5K spend so that's essentially 4X back on anything up to 5K.

I think you may be underestimating the value of 25k SPG bonus points.
