Is it possible to switch a BGR to a Starwood?

Once you spend the 30k do they send you an email to notify you that you have reached Gold Status? and is that Gold Status Life Time Gold or just for that year?

I just received the email about the renewed gold status, which did not mention the exp date. I went into my acct on the SPG website, saw the gold status but again couldn't find exp date. Finally called and was told 29 Feb 2016. Interestingly, the rep knew nothing about earning gold with the 30K spend, even insisted the only way was with stays and nights.

So, the Starwood game has to be over right? For 1 SSN, you can maximum get the consumer card bonus once and you could churn the biz card, but it still takes 12 months to do so, so for all intents and purposes, you're not getting too many points here. I never really got how people had so many SPG even before the end of AMEX churning bc even if you churned both cards every year, you could only get 60K a year which is a joke compared to Chase hotel cards.

I think some may have applied under multiple businesses to get multiple versions of the card... no?

Aha, I hear that idea (which could technically still work even now) but FME with Chase at least, they really don't care about business names and don't even care if it's your only claimed business - if you have a lot of pulls/credit on your personal account, you can't get more business cards. Unless AMEX really views your different businesses as completely different entities, then I can't imagine getting 5 SPGs under 1 SSN.
