if you earn 4 more stays by Dec. 31, it's worth it to be a gold member.

You get late 4:00 check out, bonus points upon check-in, and jr. upgrades if available, etc..
already gold due to VRs :)

You must have combined a few accounts. Every time you open a card they give you 2 stays / 5 nights. It's good towards status but you should be able to get gold without it

I traded 20k BA for 20k Starwood, however I'm not sure what to do with it, I've been holding it for awhile. Any recommendations?

It doesn't require same name transfer? Is it possible to open a new Starwood account with his address and wait 30 days and transfer to my AA?

If you try to a mismatched BA, and it fails, you will not lose your points.

Since SPG personal can't be churned anymore do people actually pay the A/F for it?! Or just close and re-open? I hate the idea of paying an A/F, but I guess I don't want to lose loyalty (or something?).

I'm happy to find out at least biz card is churnable... after a 12 month wait from closing, is it?

OK so maybe i'll get 1k SPG thrown at me. Not even the "juicy" 3k, since I lived in Israel and don't use it much here due to forex. That doesn't exactly equal 65$ (that's only 1 AP!). You can still close after you get a retention bonus. Then what you/most do? You can re-open 12 months after closing - right? You just don't get bonus... which is OK cuz you saved in A/F right? or am I missing something...

You could reopen it the next day too and avoid the AF for another year, but why do you want this card so badly? I've been asking around since AMEX churning news broke and it seems like the only way to collect points now is via spending (or churning the biz with the 12 month wait). The card itself doesn't get you very high status, so why do you want it if, as you said, you don't use it.

I thought you're not supposed to use AMEX for AP?

It's in the AP wiki. Maybe someone should change that to a suggestion?
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

I don't see it there...
I've used Amex cards on AP w/o any problems.
