Budget Israel + El Al = Free rental?
« on: July 09, 2012, 09:26:12 PM »
Got this promo for first day free budget rental after booking with El Al.

I called and they said it's stick shift only  :o - Doesn't make sense, right? (They said I can't even upgrade to automatic)

Also, free apparently means $28 a day.

Anyone have any experiences with this offer?

p.s. here is link from the email: http://www.budget.co.il/elal/

Just do what my dad did when he was offered stick.
Tell 'em you want every insurance they have as you've never driven a stick and you're gonna have a gooooood time experimenting on their car :D
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

They are Israeli. I'm afraid they'll call my bluff.

Can they honestly think they can offer a "free" car rental to Americans with stick shift being the only option?

Its the basic car class.

Its the basic car class.

I found the class list on the website. http://www.budget.co.il/vehicle_english.asp?l=0

It goes A, B, C, X, F, G, J, I, etc.

X seems to be first class that has automatic option.

...I don't know the statistics but I can't imagine that a large percentage of Americans flying el al can drive stick shift.

Doesn't have to be a bluff... They'll probably call you back as you stall 10 times trying to get out of the parking lot. :D
