Funny/Sad Story.

Went for a checkup at a dentist. Told me have to come back another time as I have 2 cavities. And couldn't do it on the spot. Came back few days later, was 15 minutes late, was told sorry, you're too late, can't be seen. I tried debating, nothing helped. So I reluctantly rebooked...   Came back, dentist filled 1 cavity, said doesn't have time for second one. So I made yet another appt..... Later that day, 3 hours later to  be exact, bit into a banana (a relatively soft food), guess what? The filling came out!! So decided not going back to that dentist.. And made an appt at diff dentist and made sure both cavities would be filled same day, and they said yes ofc it will be same day.  I come there, dentist is looking at my teeth and I show him my two cavities... Doesn't see how it's cavities. Tells me to call other dentist to email the X-rays.. Did so, looks at the x rays, still sees nothing. So he takes his own x rays, still sees nothing. His son who is also a dentist in same practice looks at my teeth, still sees nothing.!!!

Can't get over this.
You must surely have donated to Kupat Hair in between.

I actually ended up swallowing it by mistake....
I meant what did he fill originally if there was no cavity? Did he drill anything?

I still have that question. What was he drilling, I'm not sure. I do remember his using his drill. Perhaps he was pretending? As far as what did he fill, all teeth have some sort of indent downwards which something small can be placed inside.. I guess that's why it fell out? Since it wasn't deep enough?

@ushdadude is a (presumably honest) dentist and doesn't understand what we are saying because he assumes everyone is honest like him. Many people myself included have come across many dentists who make up work thats not necessary. @ExGingi is not trying to say that there aren't honest dentists but you have to do your research and get references from people you know because dishonest ones are certainly not:
miut sheino matzu

When I was a young teenager my mother took me and a few siblings to a new medicaid dentist. The Dentist said that every single one of us had between 12-17 cavities depending on the person. My mother sent the Xrays to her Uncle who was a retired Dentist and he pointed out 3 teeth total between all of us that should be treated (Elsewhere!)

unfortunately I have had many experiences of dentists like this (with Medicaid ones being the worst by far)

A direct result of compensation rates.

I recall once being at a Disability Insurance conference, and one of the speakers explained that most dentists don't earn much. Only if they get a good reputation and are busy to the point that it's hard to get an appointment, do they actually make decent money.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

A direct result of compensation rates.

That doesn't justify harming people for money.

And end up not needing to resort to that. They move into the 20% that are successful.

That's EXACTLY what I said about dentists.
Sorry, my edit didn't come through

Unfortunately, it isn't uncommon, but most of those that I know are honest.

The point is to recommend the good ones.

Don't have it... U know dentistry?

I am a dentist. (I don't practice much general dentistry anymore)

Sounds like you have multiple abfraction lesions. chalukai daios when those should be filled. if they are filled it requires minimal drilling. These DO NOT show up on the x-ray. Personally, I only would fill if the patient had symptoms like sensitivity or if there is decay.
If this is actually the case, I'm more disturbed by the second dentist throwing the first guy under the bus than the first dentist filling them.

Again, without any actual clinical data it's hard to know the true narrative but it is interesting to hear the hamon am's perspective.

Oh Wow. That's very interesting... It so happens to be that the tooth he filled, was once very sensitive and I showed it to a dentist (not him) and he said that I don't have a cavity and I should start using Sensodyne which really helped it lose the sensitivity. So you're saying it's very possible that the first guy Wasn't incorrect, rather he just held they should be fillled?

From the article I just read and the photos of it I searched, It's saying that it's on the front of the tooth where it meets the gums, I was talking about the indentation of inside a tooth, also, I'm referring to back teeth. Not front teeth, in case you thought otherwise...

If it would be true...

I do agree that there are different opinions in dentistry, what one dentist thinks should be filled the other may hold opposite....
