rental car israel summary

there seems to be soo much posted on renting a car in Israel...
i tried to do hotwire.com and they are quoting me a price of $238 total for 14 days (Sept 3-16) for an automatic economy car (this includes $27 for "tax and fees"). im sure this doesnt include collison and from what i read in the posts you are required to purchase.

 i was hoping to rent/return a car at ben gurion airport from sept 3-16. im over 25. automatic needed.

Dan/others: so what should i do now? sign up for world mastercard?? (any card with miles too?) does the mastercard not matter?
can i get a better rate somewhere else that includes collison and all the fees/taxes? (i think the hotwire rate was through Hertz).

thanks everyone and im sorry if this was covered recently as i had a hard time figuring out what my next few step in reserving a car should be

i guess you need the mastercard one. whats the best way to get the mastercard one and get teh miles??

from experience I can tell you that economy cars are probably MORE EXPENSIVE then the midsize or full size
although the rental charges are cheaper you end up using much more gas because the small car has no strength for the hills so unless you are using the car only on the main highway I would go with a bigger car

so i followed everyone's advice.. Noach rental car set me up with Hertz.. I also ordered a chase sapphire mastercard as Dan recommended so i wont be charged the CDW. But now im reading from other posts that people have had issues when they actually pick up the car where the company still tries to make them pay the CDW even though they have the matercard??

is this true? is there something that i should say when they try to do this to make sure i dont have to pay the CDW??

While I haven't rented 150 times I too never had an issue, I just returned a car today from Avis and had no problems at all.
