Has anyone used Fox Rent a Car?
« on: July 11, 2012, 11:39:32 PM »
Rates seem pretty low.  In San Fran, a Fiat 500 for 3-days goes for $150.  Just worried they hit you up with other fees when returning the car or whatever.

Renting from them in August.
Last time I rented from them was in 2007 (actually just received an email about this rental, a class action suit which entitles me to like $4. At least the lawyer will get rich). No added on fees but the car I got was pretty old (it was a minivan, it topped out at 106, it would start shaking and drop speed to 98)
Life isn't about checking the boxes. Nobody cares.

I rented with them once in San Diego. They weren't located IN the airport but the rates were cheap and the ride was good. Nothing to complain about.

not Fox but I rented once from PaylessCar (similar off-brand, very cheap) was actually a pretty new car, but they have a policy of "no refunds"-return it 2 days early, you still pay for the 3 days you rented for. was not at all clear beforehand.

I hope we're not talking mph. And if we are, how is that a significant issue for the majority of renters? I guess I can see the possibility for that kind of speed cross country or somewhere in the middle of nowhere, but for city driving and on highways within metro areas you just don't usually get the opportunity to go that fast.

i was planning to rent from them this summer so i did alot of research, this is what i came out with.

they are the cheapest (not by much tho, only about $50 cheaper per week than budget or others)
but you run the risk of additional charges unscrupulously being tacked on or being conned into insurance that you dont want (if they say sign here, make sure to check which boxes are marked off and what you are signing/initialing)

based on the reviews ive read, certain locations are pretty bad (hidden/false charges, rude employees, reserved car not available, no one to speak to) but others are ok. they usually have decent late model cars. so basically, do your research on your location and im sure a ddf'er can navigate fox car rental

I think it was actually 75. not everyone was going as fast as I was.
I was driving in the left lane and a truck from the right lane cut me off for no reason and I was really upset at him, until I saw that right past him there was a cop with a radar gun. Guy saved me a sizeable ticket (and I felt really bad that I had honked him)

Just used them again in LAS. Although theprice cant be beat ($20/day midsize) they are off the rental area, which means you need to take TWO shuttles each way! Not sure if it is worth the hassle. Also, when I returned the car they "found" a small chip in teh winshield. Still fighting them on this.

Looking at renting at Fox at JFK because they have very cheap rates. Can anyone share their experience here? They have terrible reviews...
