An out of the box idea- do you need a new watch? You can get good vintage watches that still work great, and they cost much less than the new prices. For $2K you would be able to get into a different league of watches. Plus you said you like simple watches which might be a good fit.

I just got a vintage watch and am very happy with it.

I was considering that.
Where did you get yours?

I got mine from a shady place i would never recommend, was more of a pawn shop. I am happy with mine, but that might be luck. If you like simple watches I recommend the old Omegas (i got one) , IWCs and JLCs which you should be able to find some in your budget.

It says your location is in NY, a lot of watch stores in the diamond district (NYC) deal in vintage and there are also a few reputable stores:

You can try tourneau as they sell certified pre-owned, but you will be paying a big premium for the store name. If they have a sample sale (sometimes they have it at soifferhaskin) that would be preferable.
Ebay top sellers are good for this also.
