Increasing your credit history with a trick...
« on: March 31, 2014, 09:26:47 PM »
Dan, could it work as a Canadian that has managed to build up his pseudo Social in the US to apply for a US AMEX card using 999999999 as my Social when applying, get rejected, call the International AMEX number for reconsideration, give them my Canadian AMEX number to show a long and good credit history with AMEX, get approved--but here's the clincher--after getting approved, switch the 999999999 Social to my US social, so that not only will I continue to build my US credit, but when it reports to the credit agencies, it will report it as having had the history since I began it with AMEX Canada in '98.  What do you think?

Huh?
Think switching a social is like switching an address?

Why not apply originally on your US social?

Ergel:Applying from the start with my US Social won't give me a 16 year credit history with AMEX.
Crazy Tool: My Social in the US and Canada are the same--I'm not switching them.

How is your SIN the same as your SSN

It isn't, but if he puts in his us social they won't approve him because he has a thin file in the us. Now if he puts in 99999999 he can ask to be approved based on long history with amex in canada, so it will show on his US amex that he is a cardholder since he opened his amex in canada. And than add his us social and it will post his card member length that amex has for him on his credit file.
@op sounds cool but even if amex approves you based on your cardmembership in canada doesn't mean that that's what they'll put on your us amex.
