See, this is where the issue lies... United is already taking away the in-flight snacks cause they can nickel it out of you... They aren't that nice. Besides, even if they honored ALL the tickets, it's a drop in the bucket. These guys book several thousand flights daily. Yes, it would hurt a little bit, but not crazy.

Filed, only for one tkt so far. I agree UA probably waited all this time for authorization from the DoT so it's a probably a waste of time.

If UA has broken the rules people need to bring it up so UA can come clean and not over power people in the future.

See, you're putting me in the position of defending the airline now. They didn't "break" rules. They are having a bad day, then another bad day then a couple more bad days. So yes, if you have a bad day, they don't give a damn and they still charge for change to your ticket.
AND they handled this sooo poorly.

I feel bad that UA made a mistake which resulted in loss. In life mistakes do happen and you almost always need to live up to them and at times there are serious consequences. The DoT sets rules and guidelines to protect us from getting eaten alive from the airlines and if these tickets fall under the category it's important for the DoT to follow through and set a precedent for the future so the airlines don't eat us up more than they already do now.
