How about if part of the tik was properly priced for the infant, the the adult part wasn't priced correctly. Isn't there a better argument for them to honor it?

And you've apparently missed mine. I did not book a ticket, nor do I have a strong opinion one way or the other as to the fallout. I'm sure there are people who missed the deal and very likely that fact is affecting their opinions. My point is that the people who booked tickets are probably being influenced even more so in the other direction by there stake in the matter.

at the time i booked the ticket i also booked the 4 mile ticket to hkg so i was a bit meshuga about the deal and i had a brain (eye) glitch.
is ther any way to change it without a fee?

You should have called right away and told them it was a mistake. Try now.

Slightly OT here, but AMEX has already awarded me the 3x on all the taxes and fees (around 4-5k of fees total). Will they claw them back once UA refunds me (which is somewhat surprising that they haven't refunded me yet).

What doesn't add up is that the DoT took the time to repy, their answer seems to implicate they will not compel UAL to honor these tickets.

i was thinking that United discussed this with the DOT and they reached the conclusion that they dont have to honor it. and they are just forwarding their outcome to us. BUT. now as many people are contacting them, tgey are doing an investigation as to what they told United is accurate.

They can refund it to a united voucher instead, but I can't see it being worth the pain and risk for a thousand or two points
