That rumor seems unfounded. Originally 10,000 was floating around. A few pages ago one of the most reasonable people on the FT thread who claims to be a lawyer read thru the actual regulations and claims its 25,000

There is also a cap of 3 violations per ticket.

I can verify that the guy on the FT thread is indeed very reasonable.  His reading of the statutes was $25,000 per violation, with three potential violations of DoT regs per cancellation.  Not a "cap" of 3 violations, just that there could potentially be three separate violations per cancellation based on these facts.  Again, I can verify this gentleman's brilliance. 

Edit to add:  That's UP TO $25,000 per violation, so basically totally within their discretion.

Well, I got snappish a few times at FT, but it's hard to be in a pack of wild dogs and not bite back once in a while. 

I'll enjoy that drink indeed.  Glad to have one more group of people to keep me from accomplishing anything this entire week, but have a fun time nonetheless....

I just got off the phone with with UA the rep said they are not honoring the tickets and they are going to cancel them. I asked him if he can compensate me for the problem, he offered me $100 per person or i can call customer care and they can offer me something more substantial.
