Getting Amex 1 year warranty when vast majority put on gift cards

I bought an elliptical yesterday mostly on gift cards (all but 14 dollars) :

a) does anyone know if amex gives extended warranty based on small part of purchase

b) does anyone know if I buy a warranty completley with amex ie sports authority extended warranty - whether that is extended a year by amex?

Just for the future many times its worth it to sell the gift cards so you can put the whole purchase on your credit card.

Yep, and lose money in the process.

Depending on what the gift cards are, you will lose anywhere from 5% - 30%.

It's cheaper to do the spend on Paypal, AP or Venmo and lose only 3%
