Saving Accounts
« on: July 16, 2012, 10:31:38 AM »
I bank with JPM Chase and have a savings account earning about .35% I recently got an email From Amex offering .85 and free transfers etc.
Anyone else do their banking with someone like Amex or ING. Pros, Cons?

I have a savings account with ING, and Amex.

Its an online banking only. I guess that's the con.
Other than that, they give much higher interest rates than local banks

if you're gonna go the online-only route, check out TIAA-CREF, same setup, better rates (%1.25~) and I think their Money market account has a ATM card

Not enough cash to make Bank Direct's $144 annual fee worthwhile?

Im saying its a pain to switch all of the info for a nominal increase. I dont want to chase a half a point forever, but I doubt we will see the days of 4-5% interest in a long time- unless you move to Australia.

Really? That's incredible. I just checked a couple months ago at ANZ for a simple savings account. I was thinking about opening an account. I am an Australian citizen, but that might not be good enough since the terms say that i have to be a resident there.
