The most recent agent I spoke to says it cannot be changed anymore - either ticket it, or lose it. Problem is, I need at least two changes: I want to replace CLE-ORD-LAX with CLE-LAX; but more importantly, September 26 was an arbitrary date I chose just as a placeholder for my return flight, while waiting for a flight to open on August 20 - I have absolutely zero use for it. :(

Why does she insist it can't be changed?! Is there anything technically wrong with this itinerary? She claims the previous agent "wasn't really supposed to allow certain things..."

And what should I do: ticket it, and hope HUCA works? Or start over already now?

If anybody has any insight, it would be much appreciated, as the first flight (TLV-FRA) is in less than 24 hours...

You should be allowed 2 open jaws and a stopover per round trip. Call reservations again and see if you get someone else who can help you.

Once you are ticketed you can still wait list for an available flight.

I'm gonna redo this itinerary now, via ZRH. Just wondering... the part the seemed to complain a lot about was the missing segment from NYC to CLE. Should I just preceed the CLE-LAX part with a EWR-CLE segment (also 8/5/2012, or the night before), then call an hour after ticketing to delete that segment? Would they let me do that, or would they say that removing that segment puts me in violation of the routing rules? (Related question: what happens if I simply don't show up for the EWR-CLE segment - will they cancel the rest of the ticket, like on revenue tickets?)

Also, I still don't have a return from LAX. Any chance I could tack on LAX-CLE-EWR to the EWR-TLV segment at the end, then after ticketing delete CLE-EWR, and move LAX-CLE back by a week or two? OR would they say that puts me in violation of the routing rules?

Update: booked TLV-ZRH-JFK, CLE-LAX, EWR-TLV for 120k miles. :D

For the missing space between LAX and EWR, the agent had to put in a LAX-EWR flight, then ask a supervisor to delete it.

The EWR-TLV segment is on the wrong date (sometime in September); just using it as a placeholder while I wait for a decent Rosh Chodesh flight to open up.

Once you are ticketed you can still wait list for an available flight.

So I can call now already, and say that I want to waitlist for EWR-TLV, Saver Biz on August 20? And if I class opens up, they'll automagically change it for me, without having to call again?

Does that apply as well if on a Star Alliance partner as well and want to get wait listed onto UA flight (same class, same routes, just would save me a stopover)?

When your trip isn't sequential, one of the stopovers lands in one city and takes off from another e.g. (JFK-PIT CLE-LAX) or JFK-LHR PAR-TLV-JFK).

is there a reason to do that other than not being any available flights for the complete itinerary?

If you're flying from the LAX to CLE, and you want to visit folks in CLE then drive to PIT to visit more folks, it'd be silly to drive from PIT back to CLE just to fly back to LAX.  Much simpler to fly PIT-CLE.  That's a practical reason for OJ.  Monetarily, you can use OJs to save money on a multi-destination journey.

Same flight to get an upgrade can be done without a phone call. (FE: you paid price in miles for business, and you have one leg in coach, you can request an upgrade upon availability, on UA metal, and they'll automatically upgrade you). But on date and carrier changes you must call in.

Continuing here from another thread, since I don't want to drag that one too far off topic...

Put in the extra segment, then after it tickets call in to remove the segment u don't want and change the dates of what u do want

Can I still do that after my reservation has been ticketed, and partially flown? I booked TLV-ZRH-JFK-[STOP+OJ]-CLE-LAX-[DEST+OJ]-EWR-TLV. I would have wanted a LAX-CLE return flight in there somewhere too, but they weren't giving it to me, so I just gave up and clipped it out. Any way to still tack it on, now that I've already flown the TLV-ZRH-JFK part?
