When I learned in Israel (03-05), it never dropped below 4.5.

i figure once it hits 4.02 (so ill get 4 at the money changer) ill change a boatload of dollars

makes life easier, dividing things by 4

before it was called nis (new israeli shekel) it was called is (israeli shekel)
in 1982 it was 15 is = $1

With ATM it depends which one will give u the real rate as well as credit cards I usually get great rates with my sp or club
