Help me pick a CC
« on: July 19, 2012, 11:39:46 AM »
I have searched the forums and have seen the various options available but was hoping to get advice on what people thought was best.
I current hold the following cards:
Amex SPG
Chase Saphire Preferred
Amex Blue Sky (Dont use, transferred credit line to my SPG)
Citi Diamond Preferred (my first card many years ago. I never ever use this).

Travel is second on my list of importance. I would rather have cash back/sell my miles. The Amex blue sky preferred would give me 6% cash back at grocery stores which is one of my largest expenses. I am hesitant to do this since I feel that I should have one Non-Amex that I hold in my wallet. The Chase Freedom is great and I could link it to my Checking account but the 4Q doesnt offer anything of interest. As someone previously posted, I cant expect my wife to hold 5-10 cards and remember to use a different one on her specific spending. I would like to use my  SPG for bigger expenses/electronics.
Thanks for the help!

i would do a freedom. besided rotating catg, (which is best choice) Best point value for almost any purchase under $50 (with  10-10 exclusive, and exeption for travel in SP,or Amex warenty).

I decided to give my wife the Freedom for her spendings rather than driving her crazy which card to use on each purchase.
That way I get the most possible with a single card.

from what I read the points are not transferrable unless i have a saphire preferred correct? If I cancel my SP card would anyone be able to give a value for the points?

If you have a chase death wish.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Incorrect, any SP card - even not your own. Sure, whoever has.

Your talking to someone whose never churned a card. But your saying I should open a freedom, move my SP credit line to it and than cancel my SP. At this point I should open a new SP to which I could transfer my freedom points to?

Did you hear about an A/A lately?
The latest was quite a while ago.

Somewhere that you can't and I am not being cute. I can’t get into much details but it was the whole nine yards. Checking and CC’s for the whole household. It was not bonus related so no worry for most here.

Sorry, I can’t give any more info. It is not something I would think anyone here would have to worry about. I only posted it to show Chase is still handing out AA.

Based on your advice, I would like to open a Freedom under my wifes name and transfer the credit line from her CSP to the freedom. Will they let me do this? They wont let me downgrade right now since its not the 1 year anniversary of card yet
