yes, in the video alex explains that when the contestant heard there has never been a 3 way tie he purposely bid so that if they all get it right it would be a tie

I went to a live taping of Family Feud in Hollywood.

On of the questions that they asked - no one knew the answer to. They were going back and forth and go no correct answers. The producer yelled  'Cut' and announced that they'll cut it out of the show and started over that round with a new question!
