Chase Amtrak Card.
« on: July 26, 2012, 11:24:41 AM »
I searched topics around this card, but didnt find any newer post. I saw there is offer out for this card for 32K Amtrak points. can be transferred to choice and HHonors. at 5000 Amtrak to 15000 choice and 10000 HHonors.

it appears good deal, as it can translate up to 90K Choice or 60K HHonors points.

However it comes with some limitation on max transfer and status by travelling Amtrak or having card with spend with Amtrak. If any on knows, what are these limitations and is there any easier way to get it transferred to hotel points without actually taking Amtrak train. Is it possible?

The BofA VS "65k" app should get you 100k Hilton without burning a Chase app.

For Amtrak travel those points are very valuable.
But u can transfer from ur to Amtrak too.
Just to post an example I purchased a ticket that was priced at 91$ for 5,000 Amtrak points that's a value of 1.9+

1.9 is nothing for people who prefer to fly Business or First class. Either way, there are several UR-earning cards that get you more than  32k (each card) in signup bonuses.

Agreed, but for the typical person who isn't flying those classes, or who has a use for Amtrak, it's a very solid value.
Especially b/c you'd be hard-pressed to get that much value out of an Economy class on most routings.

And you could get a value of 2.2 even for domestic coach.
Love me or hate me. I still love you.

Transfer your UR to Avios and fly last minute short-haul AA flights that are selling for $1000 or more, you'll be getting more like 10cpp on your UR in economy.

I was giving an example where it was easiest and most convenient to use Amtrak and I got great value for last min travel with them and had it been booked earlier it would have been cheaper.
Obviously flying business is where one gains the most but I wouldn't pay for a business/first seat ever again (hopefully) while riding the Amtrak I would have paid

That's a great example of getting great value from economy. But I said 'hard pressed'. I don't think most ppl wait till the last minute to book, and AA doesn't help with all routes. But it's a point well taken.

Look for a nonstop flight with advance purchase CLE-NYC but with less than 3 nights in NYC (or vice versa)
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

I don't meet your post threshold, so I guess I'll miss out on the dollar, but I have a Chase AGR card and use it regularly.

The Chase Amtrak Guest Rewards MasterCard program ends on September 30. Existing Chase AGR MasterCards will become Chase Freedom cards. (What on earth am I going to do with two Freedom cards, especially since Chase won't approve me for the SP?)

No word yet on whether Amtrak will remain a Chase UR transfer partner in the long run.

Also no word yet on the replacement AGR card, although rumor has it that it will be issued by Bank of America.
