Author Topic: How to get the most out of a St. Regis hotel stay? (Read 4002 times)

I'm staying at the St Regis NYC next week for one night. I've never stayed at anything close to this nice (when I pay cash it's usually more in line with Days Inn or Red Roof!). What can/should I ask for, what can the butler do for me, etc?

I'm thinking to start by having the hotel get flowers for the room. Can i just call concierge before I check in and tell them to spend up to X amount of dollars on flowers? I will call ahead for that so it's ready when we check in.

I don't get it. You wanna buy yourself flowers for a night at a hotel?

You most certainly can call the hotel. They usually have a florist they work with and a price list. Expect to pay a premium

He wants it to be the nicest experience for both of them, beautiful hotel, flowers waiting (you might be able to ask them to make pedals leading to the bed), maybe some champagne etc. get it?

He can take a limousine to the hotel, buy a nice bottle of wine, whatever.

I think we should change the topic to "how to treat a woman - only men allowed"

And women don't like flowers, they like that their spouses think about them.
Many husbands pay the florist every week to deliver flowers, thinking that "women like flowers", or better, I'm a good husband, because I'm buying flowers, and their wives don't like it. The man is just thinking about himself.

The only thing you could say that women "like", is the card that comes with the _____

If you usually stay at "Red Roof Inn" I am assuming you booked the St Regis on points. The flowers are going to cost you more than you usually pay for a hotel room. Bring your own flowers and spend your money taking her out to a nice restaurant!!!

Yes, I am taking my wife and leaving the kids by my parents. Is it obnoxious to order my own flowers from 1800flowers and have them deliver to the hotel? Wine I might bring but don't want the hotel people to handle it.

We are going to Le Marais for dinner.

I did book on points. I'm 28 and I work half-time lol, I sure as hell didn't pay cash. This whole mini-vacation is financed by points. Whatever I couldnt book directly with points is being payed for upfront, then I'm selling off some miles to make up what i spent.

What I meant us, go downstairs and buy her flowers for 1/10th the price at any mini market. Even if you wanted to have flowers delivered, why is it obnoxious to have a local florist deliver it? Its a free country and you can order from wherever you want. Its like ordering food from a restaurant even though the hotel offers room service.
