Rental/Upgrade/Stretch Question

For a avis rental in Europe, that I want to setup today:

Fact 1: Price per day if renting for a few days, isn't much more expensive than renting for 2.5 week.

Fact 2: Rental companies will upgrade more easily + to higher level when rental period is shorter.

Question: Can they give me trouble if a say 3 day rental turns into 3 weeks or so ?

What kind of trouble can they do? One is allowed to keep a car for longer, you are not supposed to know all their rules regarding upgrades, obviously if they tell you differently while picking up the car, is different.

You are saying that turning a 3 day rental into 17 days isnt a problem ?

They cannot say: We needed this car, bla bla...

Thanks, in France they once said that they will come and get the car if I keep it too long, and it was the same kinda length like now.

thats a great service, :-) can really do with that sometimes.
Actually a Friend was recently upgraded in Europe he took the car for a month, they told him that he must call a certain day next week to find out if he can keep the car because they might need it, so if they dont say anything, should be fine.

Avis is good with extending the rental period they may call you at some point to make sure everything is ok

I don't know if there is a difference between Europe ana USA, in USA the contract usually says that the rate is good for 4-28 days... Or something like that...

I would assume that you would be able to keep it up till 28 days...

I have extended rentals in the past, I called the 800 # to modify my reservation and tell them I am keeping it for longer.

I once kept the car a day extra in Israel, the location called me when I am returning it... I said next day, it was fine.
