So the weird thing is that the envelope doesn't have a postmark date. In fact, the only date I see anywhere is that the card is valid until 8/31/15

Many post offices stopped postmarking envelopes several years ago.

The irony with Discover is that they probably have to cut a few million trees every week just to produce the paper needed for all their snail mail offers, and yet don't even blush asking you to sign up for paperless statements "to save the environment".
