It's a really great offer. They don't charge you the monthly fee until after 3 months; they DO NOT send you a 1040, and Citi Gold has excellent customer service! This is at least my experience with a few accounts, YMMV.

AFAIK 30k will have a value of more than 600 and you will receive a 1099.
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

Is $600 really going  to make a difference in tax payments for you?

 ???

So you have no problem paying more tax? You must either be a Democrat, extremely wealthy, or both.

Just saying cost/benefit analysis leans in favor of the 40k miles.

40000 *.025 = $1000.

At a tax bracket of 40%, that's a $400 tax bill to Uncle Sam for the miles.

$400 for 40,000 miles, when I can get the same amount of miles or even more for free?

I misspoke its 30k miles and the previous post said its 1099 at a value of $600. At a 40% tax bracket that's $240 for 30k miles. To me that's pretty worth it. But of course if you only want to do free then that's cool too.

Yes, I meant 1099. I am pretty sure, unless I will be receiving it sometime later this year. But IIRC, FT also seems to heave said so.

Whatever the number of miles, Citi values them at 2.5 cpm, which means $300 for 30,000 miles, or 1 cpm. Same math, still meh.

Don't think that's correct AFAIK.

I guess I'll find out by the end of the year.

In any event, one major problem I had was that I lost access to my credit card login. Once the account is created, you cannot login to ANY citi account without the debit card. The debit card took forever to come and it was a royal pain to deal with them.

Data point: As always, AP does work for direct deposit.
