For the fun of it I would play the "involuntary downgrade " game and make them pay some heavy Euros according to EU regulations.
Thanks, I'll try to double dip. (AB,BA)

What is 75% of the fare if I booked with miles?

Lots of free drink coupons :)

One dude cursed my wife out for coming into the lounge with kids. We get on the plane and guess who is sitting right next to us... Poor fella! He was eating his heart away the entire flight... And, we were delayed for 12 hours in a snow storm.

So for anyone that got a seat for their toddler age kid in J I'd recommend to ditch the Cosco and just put the seat back for sleep time.

True but my kid is a happy bee with an iPad and kid videos. As long as she has that she can watch that until she falls asleep. And falling asleep is/was a lot easier when the seat is in recline with comfy blankets.

once a car seat has been gate-checked, is it still safe to use? or is it the same as checking it?

Thats the question
I don't get it. Since when does checking a car-seat make it unsafe for future use?

Edit: After some online research I see that there is a bit of controversy on this. However I did find a post from the Manufacturers Alliance for Child Passenger Safety.

Quote
Car seats are designed to withstand most motor vehicle crash forces. In general, the MACPS does not consider a gate-checked car seat or a car seat that is checked as luggage to be one that has experienced forces equivalent to a motor vehicle crash. Once the destination is reached, it is recommended to inspect the car seat to make sure no visual damage has occurred and all aspects of the car seat function properly.

Have they never seen how these carseats get handled?

I have never seen any visual damage on my childs car seat. Nor can you honestly say that rough handling of a car seat is close to a bad car crash.

I sent my car seat and snap-n-go at gate check. The snap-n-go came out broken when we landed.
