Wife and I purchased RT flight to Israel on the United Deal that Dan posted a while ago. At the time my wife was pregnant so we did not add a lap infant. Just called United to add lap child and was under the impression that they would charge 10% of current fare which is approximately $1100. However, rep told my wife that it would be over $600 to add lap child. Any advice? Flying out this coming Wednesday.

How do you book a ticket for an infant that has not yet been born?
International. So usually 10% of parent's ticket price.
We want to book now, when the price of the ticket may be lower than after the kid is born.  But we don't have a first name for the kid yet.


Also, how soon after birth will the parents be able to get a passport for the kid - I assume it will need one?

You want one, you gotta take them all...  (don't worry, I usually get compliments on my kid's behavior when flying )
A little milk in a baby bottle is not such a big deal, and TSA has NEVER asked "is this for you or the kid?"

I've done this. Passport you can do right away if you have paperwork. You'll need it. Ticket I've done using baby as a first name and then sat on the phone until someone understanding agreed to change it and the birth date. I wonder if I would have just left it if it would have been OK. With El AL I think it would have been

For the infant? Sure.

Depends on what you bring it has to be in a baby bottle sometimes. I just had with Delta by the gate on the way from TLV-JFK my 15 month baby was drinking from a small water bottle in his hands and by the gate they took it away even when he was screaming!!. Best trick is to hide it deep in your bag (TLV). In JFK the TSA asks you if it`s for the baby if yes its fine. I once took 4 vitamin waters plus other drinks and the TSA guy saw it he said ``Its for the baby`` and winked to my wife with a huge smile and past it all thru after checking it for a second  TSA started being very nice for the baby ONLY in JFK but in NEWARK...... nasty is not the word.

If I have a reservation for me and family besides for the baby using Ana miles on United flight, would asiana allow me to book one leg for the baby on the same flight using their miles? The other legs I'll be paying 10% of cash price as a lap infant. The issue is that one leg is extremely expensive if paying cash, and asiana has a great mileage rate on that flight.

Is this still enforced? asking about taking a double stroller on AA, and who enforces it? In other words, if I get past security, will they make me take it back when I get to the gate?  Asking about AA Domestic small plane flight.
(Not checking in luggage, so I will be going straight to security)

I just flew from LAX on AA and was told by the bag check that if my (double) stroller weighs more than 23lbs I will have to check it in with my bags. I ended up taking off the wheels so when she weighed it, it was less than the 23lbs. When I got to the gate there was a gate agent that started telling me that I can't bring this stroller because it weighs more than 20lbs and that she will have to carry it herself down the steps because they don't have a shoot. I actually watched her carry it ( she was an older women).

Does anyone know if this going to be a new thing??

This is an old thing. Happened to me a few years back, except they didn't let me take the wheels off to weigh even asked for supervisor etc.. This is largely dependent on the agent you get. On that same trip there were plenty of double strollers (including a Bugaboo Donkey -which weighs almost as much as I do) present at the gate area for our flight. We actually had a connection (which included a terminal building change) and that didnt get any mercy from the agent and supervisor - their response was: "we could order a wheelchair for your 3 year old"

They sometimes ask for ID for under 2.  YMMV; get him used to it before the trip. Yes; if you try to pass him off as under 2 for a free seat, you run the risk of being "carded."

Is it crazy to travel 16 hours by car ( 8 hr there and 8 hr back, 1 day being there in span of 3 days) with a infant under 6 months?
