Rafi doesn't like going for walks in the carseat, but for going through the airport or going to sleep in it on the plane, it still works 1 year in.
Definitely was worth going for the 30 pound Chicco, best carseat by far.

True, will deal with that when he exceeds 30 pounds I suppose.  So darn convenient to have on the plane though.
My two and a half year old doesn't weigh 30 pounds, try getting her in a carrier

Me'Inyan L'Inyan B'Oso Inyan:
I have award flight booked with QF. I got my infant an award ticket as well, because the price of an infant ticket with QF is absurd. Now, QF is telling me that I can't reserve a bassinet, because baby is booked on award ticket instead of infant ticket.
Any ideas?

So check the bags outside and have 1 parent carry the child inside for a plus infant boarding pass.
Was travelling alone with 4 kids and 8 pcs of luggage.  Was an Avios award ticket so hadn't added the baby yet.  Told the guy to pretend my baby wasn't there or not travelling etc.  No way I was gonna shlep 8 pcs of luggage inside.  Wasn't happy about it but he finally did it.

Keep calling esp. within 24 hours of flight. If not, get to the airport really early. It's worth it.

It's worth it.
At 5 months the bassinet was too small for my son.  Carseat OTOH still works like a charm at 1 year old.

Will be around 5 months old.

QF international bassinets are for children until 18 months, so I assume that they are quite large.
[As opposed to QF domestic which is only until 6 months.]
The QF rep suggested I take a car seat, but I am wary about the shlep... We are dealing with several children, 3 segments, trans-pacific.

To me would be a no brainer to bring the car seat.

I wouldn't assume that, though it depends on the size of your infant I suppose.
Rafi fit inside at 5 months, he just couldn't sleep in it like he could in a carseat.

My son and daughter both fit in a qantas bassinet at 12 months. They slept majority of flight to and from Australia. They are large. Best part about them is that because they have a seat-belt they don't make you take out baby during turbulence.

This is when my daughter was 8 months. I don't have of other trips as I'm really bad with taking pics. We've traveled for 5 siblings weddings since we got married and I don't think we took a camera once!

Is the seatbelt a new thing?  Don't remember there being one when I flew with my baby.

Huh?
The TSA stopped you from bringing a stroller through security? Or the airline has an agent at security? At which airport?

I've flown on 27 segments with an overweight/oversized stroller on AA, B6, CO, HA, UA, WN, and WP and never have had an issue.
JFK TSA STROLLER ALERT: tsa sent my sister back to check in because her stroller was too big/heavy!

Together? I have the Snugride 22 and the Snugrider and they combine for 20 lbs even (12.5 + 7.5). With the larger 30 or higher versions you'd be over 20.
