I wasnt complaining as you are, after all elikay and txtmax4 answered me very nicely, seems for whatever reason you are always looking to nitpik.

and yes at 1st it did seem that people werent too happy. It just sounded to me like those checking into a Hotel and finding out they actually got what they reserved for a room and really didnt want that type of room and thought they get the better room via an Upgrade. I always say, book what you want to end up with, so if you need a Mountain view then book it, if it doesnt make a difference if you dont get it dont complain.

It sounded to me that some folks were none too happy ending up having to hold their kids, thats all, I dont see why you are trying to make a Mountain out of a Mole Hill. and all I did was ask if you dont want to hold your kid why  not buy the extra seat to make sure you wont have to.

I can tell you this from my non-Israeli trips this summer almost every flight was 100% full in coach and biz, Flying is alot less Fun then it used to be and its not getting any better

Steve I didnt try to nitpik, as you call it. I am sorry if you took it this way.

Nobody is happy if they have to hold them, but I realize this might happen!

which I know understand to be what most people feel, but when I posted my 1st post I didnt. It originally sounded as if everyone was complaining and I simply thought if its that bad why not ante up the $$ and purchase a seat for the kid/baby.

Now I also understood thats theres a $ factor to having to buy an extra seat so then why not leave the kid/baby and go w/o them. Yes I do know people that will go away and leave their kids/baby with either parents or a sibling, and yes I imagine not everyone can do this or would want to even if they could

I imagine its worst of the TLV non-stops where most likely there will be any number of babies/kids and everyone wanting the bassenet area or empty seats next to them.

Nothing new as people have been flying to/from TLV with kids/babies for yrs and generations before this current one, and they seemed to have managed

You could take whatever you want (not sure about blue label) as long as it in the diaper bag ;D !

I will be flying domestically and my child is turning 2 before the return. I know the airline may SAY I need to purchase a 1 way return for him, but how will they know he is 2? Will I need to present any ID to prove his age on the way there - and hence be unable to put him on my lap on the way back, or can I wing it free both ways without showing any ID??

If I don't bring/present any ID, how can they 'catch me'? On the way in I would have the same chances of being asked as on the way out. I've seen online that they sometimes require ID to prove that he's an infant. But if I don't have ID on me will they refuse to let the infant on? Does anyone have experience with this?

Personal experience regarding this, and perhaps an idea for those who like living on the edge:
Two years ago, I had a flight on UA which involved both a domestic and international leg.
My child was turning two before the return flight, and my travel agent was not being given clear guidance from UA regarding how to issue the ticket. So, he advised us to purchase a return infant fare (as opposed to a child fare), and worry about any problems if and when they cropped up.
When we checked in on the first segement of our return flight, the domestic segment, we had to show our passports to the agent, being that it was connecting to an international flight. The check-in agent didn't say a word about my child's age, (I have no idea if she noticed the date or not,) and checked us all in, no problem.
At our connection point, we had to show our passports again in order to board the international segment. The agent noticed the date and sternly told us that that we needed a child ticket. With that, she warned us that "next time" we won't be as lucky, and she let us through.
[Ah, that proverbial "next time"; I hear alot about it when flying!  :) ]
Good luck!

Wrong.
BUT... in most cases when you do the booking, the baby has to be on it and thats where they ask you for the age.
So basically if you want get out of having to show ID, you have to lie about the baby's age and risk getting caught...
(I heard more than one story where airport agents required certain passengers to get additional documentation faxed over in order to let them onto the flight...)

I've flown dozens of times with an infant and have never been asked for ID when flying domestically.  Sometimes they ask for the birthdate sometimes not.

Did this really need a new thread? There are quite a few threads discussing this already (truth is had you searched you may not have found this post necessary).
