Along this same idea. I stayed at a SPG hotel and did not receive my Gold bonus points (250 points) for the stay. Spg says I have to call the Hotel directly.
What can I ask them to compensate for this mistake?

Yes, complained that the whirlpool hot tub was not working (even though its 80 degrees), they responded by offering that I come back for free for another week. I received a voucher for one free week in the mail. This was many years ago.

i've had that many times not getting my 500 points. each time i called spg and they did the work for me by calling the hotel. always tried but never got anything extra over it.

no one wrote the lounge? i know there s one in ded sea, do they have them in all the hotels, bec there amazing drinks all day (instead of buying 5$ drink of beer or soda just get one from the lounge, and the 500 points is instead of breakfast a lot of times, and free internet is very good, these are all good on long trips (3/4 days type trips)

I chatted online with SPG, and they credited me.

i've gotten room upgrades to suites.
free valet parking when there was a charge.
free inroom movies.
free room service.
and best of all an upgrade to the greatest level. VIP!!

Do you have status with them? Any tips about how to ask? I'll be in 2 SPG properties in Thailand this week, and would love to milk them.

there are around 5 diff cuples i know in thailand (from il :-)

and ya loundge on 16th floor need to be platt to get in get out of the elevator and look either left or right, its open from 8am till 8pm :-) go for it :-)

From israel.   And prob not with gold. Maybe find someone who is platt and book with them and either give points or pay but it's deff cheaper

for a gold member they might give you the upgrade if its a special occasion. maybe call spg and ask them to call the hotel or even call direct to the hotel and let them know its a special occasion and ask for an upgrade. you never know!!

ohhh of course u must call and book i never book online anymore bec u can sweet talk the lady on the phone and she'll put it in the notes that u have a special occassion or u r a good costumer and would like an upgrade....THAt they can do :-)

its poss  by me it did (i think =)  the late check out with the platt even didnt help they claimed something as resorts dont have to follow the rule or something like that

The trick is when you make a reservation over the phone, to get spg to call the hotel and request your upgrade/suite/free parking....
