How should this be resolved?
I'm not sure if this is a rhetorical question, but I think school choice would go a long way towards solving issues like this

That is another massive fight. It goes hand in hand with school board control. The same ones that only want parents with kids in public schools on the school board are against school choice.

Which is why I have been arguing for the longest time that SCOTUS nominations are the most important part of a presidential election. You want to have a SCOTUS in place that won't kill school choice if there's ever legislation to allow it.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

I say I agree with you and welcome to the real world. They see it one way and that is there way. School boards by me are made up of parents that have kids in public schools no matter the make up of the community. There are never ending fights over control between different groups with kids in public schools.

Their view is you want to send your kids to private schools then pay for it yourself. I did.  :)
First of all, you seem to think that all PS boards are always made up exclusively of PS parents. This is definitely not true. Retirees, people without children, etc. get elected to boards all the time for the same reason - curb spending/taxes. We (and same for the aforementioned non-PS parents) are not saying we shouldn't contribute at all to the PS system, but we should have a say in the budget.

As far as paying for private schools - WE DO!!!! Of course we do. The amount of money private school kids get from the local school district (for busing and other services) is a small portion of the total cost of education, and pales in comparison to what is spent on a per child basis for PS.

ETA: And we understand the perspective of the PS parents - what we don't understand is the level of hate that comes with it.

The law obligates funding for some aspects of private education and allows for others.

That typically works, and most agree with that. Only areas that are dominantly inhabited by private school goers will have this issue, and that isn't too common.
Memories last forever, make them while you can.

You understand that will just widen the divide between the haves and have-nots? The result will be increase hate.

Not true. Many of them wish they could send their kids to private schools which can often be much better than the PS.

It is also slanted towards public schools for good reasons.

What I said is 100% true. You are bringing in a different issue, school vouchers.

Yes and it remains that way. The vast majority in all of these places is funding public schools except for KJ which is very unique.

I am extremely familiar with that case. My mother a"h was in SCOTUS for oral arguments and was the principal of the one school. The district is still in existence under later bills passed by the NY legislature.

Went to the bank today and used my Global Entry card as a form of ID.
Ended up explaining to one of the bankers abt the CCs that give GE credit. Lol.

The truth is, I wanted to tell him I could hook it up for an easy $30, but it felt very out of place. :)

All I can say about this is: check out @Yehuda57's signature line. It's posts like these that earn him that job!

I still feel honored to be quoted in such a distinguished member's signature line, so my badge of honor didn't totally disappear. But this is a dangerous feature of signature lines, they can just change/disappear just like that across the vast treasure of DDF (or more precisely JS) threads, and it doesn't even require mod powers!  Lesson learned, as they say on DDF: POIDH!
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!
