It's a wonderful quote and certainly rings true. That doesn't mean *I* can expect of *you* to express outrage for the causes *I* feel are most important. When they come for the trade unionists, and the trade unionists fight back, you can't be upset if they don't fight as hard when they come for the socialists.
There's also a difference between calling on leaders to speak out and individuals on social media.
Absolutely. It's a very difficult question, where to draw the line between individuality and "communal" activism, and who should be called on for calling it out.
It is definitely not always or maybe even not often the case, but as is apparent from the Niemoller quote, intolerance/injustice against a particular group can be a means to intolerance/injustice against all the "others", and perhaps if
all groups would stand together and take it as a personal "punch" the collective "ow" would go a long way to dealing with some of the problems.
